We are developing car engines. The key theme in today's car industry is "environment conscious and a high fuel-efficiency engine." When developing a new engine, only making parts as designed and building an actual engine with the parts cannot achieve the targeted performances easily. If required specifications are not met, analysis of the causes and a change of designs is required. For this purpose, magnification of parts is required for inspection and analysis.

Conventionally, an optical microscope was used for magnified inspection of parts. However, the cause of a problem may not be identified with a microscope that focuses on only one part. As a matter of fact, this method took a vast amount of time to decide solutions to the problems one by one. As you may know, cutthroat competition in the car industry allows only one year or so to complete one project. We are afraid that this development task may not be completed within a given period using the conventional analysis methods.

The VHX series focuses on the whole part at one time. Employment of the VHX series has shown many cases where the cause of a problem is identified by inspecting only the one part that caused the problem. Because of the number of prototype products that are required for development, completion of development work on schedule was made possible. Also, time has been saved for further improvement and cost reduction, which are the primary purposes of product development.
