Characteristics of the Microscope

Advantages compared to the VH Series

  • Provides excellent resolution.
  • Relatively inexpensive.
  • Enables special observations. (Polarizing microscope, phase contrast microscope,
differential interference microscope, fluorescence microscope, etc.)

Disadvantages compared to the VH Series

  • The depth of field is shallow. (The focus range is narrow.)
  • Illumination may be directed unevenly to the target; illumination setup conditions are not reproducible.
  • Does not provide all-in-one configuration. (The system is difficult to use because the body, monitor and other units are all separate pieces of equipment.)
  • Various functions are not available (such as measurement, depth composition, 3-D display and image-processing functions).
  • To observe a large target, the target must first be processed. (Targets held in the hand cannot be observed.)
  • A high-range zoom lens is not available. (It is difficult to use.)
  • Requires a troublesome printing procedure. The printed image is different from the one observed visually.
  • Has poor compatibility with personal computers. (It is difficult to transfer data to a PC.)
  • Quickly creates eye strain in the user. The user needs to be well experienced in observation with both eyes.
  • Several people cannot observe a target simultaneously. (They cannot hold a discussion about the target.)
