Advantages of metallurgical microscopes
- They provide excellent resolution.
- Various filters are available; they provide a wide observation range.
Disadvantages of metallurgical microscopes
- They have an extremely shallow depth of field, so a defective part may be overlooked.
- Because their observation distance is short, the target must be processed before it is
set on the stage.
- Since they have many adjustment points, the user must have shooting expertise.
- The user gets very tired during observation.
