3D Display Microscope Functions
3D Profile Display for Targets that are Difficult to Understand with only 2-D images
Creating 3D Images from 2D images
A major advantage of digital microscopes over optical microscopes is their ability to easily create 3D images. The 3 dimensional profiles of observation targets are often unclear when using only 2 dimensional images. The ability to create 3 dimensional images from a "stack" of 2 dimensional images in the Z-axis is one of the most important functions of digital microscopes.
The "3-D display" function in products such as the KEYENCE VHX-1000 allows the user to obtain an accurate and detailed profile of any target. These profiles can also be easily enlarged and rotated for inspection from any angle.

3D Images using the D.F.D Method (VHX-1000)
Even images with overall focus, obtained through some type of depth composition function, can have profiles with are still difficult to comprehend with 2-D data alone. The KEYENCE VHX-1000 comes standard with the 3-D display function that allows the user to assess the profile from various angles. The "D.F.D. method" *
* Enables simple operation requiring no electric motors with use of the multi-viewer system.
Volume Rendering
A method to visualize the brightness levels of the points (voxels) in a 3D space by converting them directly into a 2D image, instead of converting them into polygons. This results in a significant amount of data and calculations because not only the surface information but also the internal information is reflected

Image Composition (D.F.D. Method)
The D.F.D. method enables image composition using less sampling data than conventional models. The D.F.D. method calculates the positions of projections and depressions in the area in which focus cannot be obtained based on multiple images and obtains the data of height differences. As a result, image composition is enabled with less sampling data than with conventional models. There is no need to capture images at all focus positions, enhancing
the efficiency of analysis operations.
Useful when the Profile is Unclear Using only 2-D Images
The 3-dimensional profiles are often unclear from 2-D observation images. In such cases, the "3-D display" function allows the user to understand the profile at a glance and observe the target from various angles. This enables the user to provide accurate reporting to the person in charge.
