Microscope Data Storage and Recording
Versatile Solutions for Data Storage |
| Many digital microscopes also include either some sort of hard-disk or CD-R/RW drive for use as a storage device. High end product such as the KEYENCE VHX-600 (Gen II) include both. These device enable users to easily share image data with their colleagues. |
Built-in CD-R/RW Drive (VHX-600) |

KEYENCE VHX-600 (Gen II) with 24x CD-R/RW Drive. |
| The KEYENCE VHX-600 includes a high speed CD-R/RW drive which is built into the controller for use as a recording medium The drive in the VHX-600 has a write speed is 24x with a max. storage capacity of 700 MB. Since the drive is capable of recording approximately 3500 image files (when compressed to 2 million pixels), a large volume of observation image data can be backed up easily. Also, the data can be transferred smoothly to and from a PC. |
Built-in 160GB Hard Disk |
| The KEYENCE VHX-600 also includes a large capacity hard disk for saving large volumes of data. The high speed 160GB hard disk is capable of storing up to 200,000 image files (when compressed to 2 million pixels). |
Timer Capturing Function |
| Images can be recorded automatically at a predetermined interval. The standard LAN connection on the KEYENCE VHX-600 enables the use of a PC to receive images saved in the VHX-600 located in the laboratory for time elapsed observations. Illumination for observation is turned off automatically when an image is not being captured, saving the lamp life. |
Supports Keyboard Inputs |
| Convenient for entering detailed observation data while recording files. Observation conditions such as the lens and magnifications used for observation can be entered as comments onto the file to be recorded. Your currently used keyboard (DOS/V PS/2 compatible) can be connected to the VHX-600. |
Foot Switch |
| When both hands are busy performing handheld observation, or when the operation panel of the controller cannot be reached, the images can be frozen or captured using a foot switch. (Commercially available products) |
Variations of image size |
| An image can be recorded at its optimal size according to the medium or purpose. |
- 54 million pixels (4800 x 3600 pixels)
- 8 million pixels (3200 x 2400 pixels)
- 2 million pixels (1600 x 1200 pixels)
- For transmission to portable devices (640 x 480 pixels)
- For transmission to cellular telephones (160 x 120 pixels)
- For transmission to next-generation cellular telephones (QGVA, 320 x 240 pixels)
VHX Communication Software |
| The special software can be used on your PC. Data can be sent and received to and from the KEYENCE VHX-600 via USB2.0 connection or LAN connection. (Support OS: Windows XP "home edition" and/or "professional edition"/2000/Me/98SE) |
