  • The target is observed from the top.
  • Various targets including slides can be observed.
  • Best-suited for observation in the middle-to-high magnification range.
  • Lens magnification is changed with the revolver.
    (Magnification cannot be changed while continuously observing the target.)
  • Most types can be equipped with a camera. (An optional mounting attachment is required.)

Advantages of metallurgical microscopes

  • They provide excellent resolution.
  • Various filters are available; they provide a wide observation range.

Disadvantages of stereoscopic microscopes

  • They have an extremely shallow depth of field, A defective part may be overlooked.
  • Because their observation distance is short, the target must be processed before it is set on the stage.
  • Since they have many adjustment points, the user must be trained before using this type of microscope.
  • The eye pieces cause fatigue.
