Introduction to Microscope Types

Learn about a Variety of Available Microscopes.
  Stereoscopic Microscope
Stereoscopic Microscope
  • Best-suited for observation in the low-to-middle magnification range (approx. 5x to 120x).
  • A zoom lens is generally used.
  • Camera can be mounted to some types

  Metallurgical Microscope
Metallurgical Microscope
  • The target is observed from the top.
  • Various targets including slides can be observed.
  • Best-suited for observation in the middle-to-high magnification range.
  • Lens magnification is changed with the revolver.
(Magnification cannot be changed while continuing observation of the target.)
  • Most types can be equipped with a camera. (An optional mounting attachment is required.)

  Inverted Microscope
Inverted Microscope
  • The target is observed from the bottom.
  • In industrial fields, polished metal surfaces can be observed. In biological fields, targets in laboratory dishes and slides can be observed.
  • Best-suited for observation in the middle-to-high magnification range.
  • Lens magnification is changed with the revolver. (Magnification cannot be changed while continuing observation of the target.)
  • Most types can be equipped with a camera. (An optional mounting attachment is required.)

  Measuring Microscope
Measuring Microscope
  • Developed for measurement using a metallurgical microscope or stereoscopic microscope as a mirror.
  • Can measure a target shape in X, Y and Z directions by evaluating the stage displacement. It provides a measuring accuracy of approx. 1µm. However, because dimensions are checked visually, measuring errors may occur depending on the user's skill.
  • Approx. 50mm to 200mm dimensions can be measured depending on the stage type.

  Laser Microscope
Laser Microscope
  • Developed for three-dimensional shape measurement. It can measure a three-dimensional shape with a high accuracy of 0.01µm or less through the use of a laser, without touching the target.
  • Through composition of focal points on the target, it can take extremely sharp images to create overall focused images.

  Digital/Video Microscope
Digital/Video Microscope
  • They provide excellent resolution.
  • Deep depth of field
  • Easy to observe a large target, the target does not need to preprocessed. (Targets held in the hand are easily observed.)
  • All-in-one configuration. (Body, monitor and other units are all included in the system.)
  • A wide range of zoom lens are available.
  • Several people can easily observe a target simultaneously. (In order to have a discussion about the target.)
