If the cells have large indentations, the system cannot focus on the whole outline and accurate measurements cannot be obtained. Accurate measurements can be obtained by first capturing a depth composition image and bringing the whole outline into focus before measuring.

Using a polarized illumination adapter makes it possible to observe residual stress and the flow of plastic on welds, phenomena that cannot ordinarily be observed.

With normal lighting, only the shape of crystals can be observed, but with polarized observation proteins and crystal polarization can be observed.
